Why should you attend this year’s HOPE Summit

We are excited to host the Fifth Annual HOPE Summit – Shaping the Future: A Framework for Every Sector on June 3-4, 2025! The Summit is for all who work in a child- and family-serving sector, from medical practices to community organizations, educators, and administrative staff.

From our action-packed schedule of two keynote addresses, three workshop sessions featuring 5 sector-specific tracks, and an exciting closing panel discussion, you will gain insights into how your fellow professionals have practically implemented the HOPE framework into their day-to-day work, organizational programming and practices, and community outreach. Through networking opportunities, you will build meaningful connections with your colleagues from diverse child and family-serving sectors across the U.S. and globally. You can also earn 8 continuing education credits (CMEs and CEUs) when you attend all the Summit sessions.

And most importantly, you will walk away with not just knowing how positive childhood experiences (PCEs) can build resilience and improve health outcomes, but also how to promote PCEs through HOPE in your work with children and families.

What to expect at the HOPE Summit

Keynote addresses

HOPE Director Robert Sege, MD, PhD will kick off the Summit with his keynote address, HOPE – The movement. He will share how HOPE has grown over the years in the United States and globally. Dr. Sege will share the ways that the HOPE framework has been integrated in practice, organizations, and research and changed how we care for children and families across all sectors.

The second day of the Summit starts with a keynote address from Junlei Li, PhD, Faculty Co-Chair of Human Development and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In his talk, Building Positive Childhood Experiences through Simple, Ordinary Human Interactions, Dr. Li will share the major impact the Simple Interactions (SI) approach has on child development, how SI connects to the HOPE Framework, and how simple, ordinary interactions may already be happening without us realizing.

Workshops

This year’s Summit offers 5 sector-specific tracks for attendees to follow throughout the three workshop sessions:

  • Healthcare
  • Child Welfare
  • Education
  • Substance Misuse Prevention
  • HOPE Impact

These tracks are designed to offer concrete practices from experts implementing and practicing the HOPE framework in their fields and allow space for rich interactive discussion. Customize your workshop schedule by following a single track closely or choosing any combination of workshops across multiple tracks.

Opportunities for networking

Throughout the two-day event, you will have opportunities to network with other attendees in group discussions and one-on-one settings. During the break, you will have the option to participate in sector-specific networking where others in your field can come together and talk about their experiences with the HOPE Framework, network, and make connections that go beyond the virtual platform. There is also a chat feature where you can reach out to individual attendees.

Closing panel discussion

Join our closing session, Let’s Hit the Road! Destination: HOPE, where HOPE Directors Dr. Sege and Amanda Winn will take you on a road trip across the United States. Along the way, you will meet HOPE Champions who have implemented the HOPE framework in their work, spreading PCEs in their communities. This session will end with a panel discussion where attendees can submit questions for Dr. Sege and Amanda Winn.
