Incorporating HOPE during a developmental referral
These simulation videos present two different deliveries of a referral to speech therapy. One video shows a home visitor using the HOPE framework when speaking with a parent. The other video presents a similar conversation, but the home visitor does not use HOPE. The videos are intentionally dramatized to more obviously show the difference when using HOPE.
We recommend watching the “Without HOPE” video before moving on to the “With HOPE” video. As you watch these two videos. take note of the differences you see between the two conversations.
In the videos, the home visitor is played by Eliza Loren Purdue, Training and Technical Assistance Project Manager. The parent is played by Amanda Winn, Director of Training and Technical Assistance.
