Reviewing how positive experiences build resilience and well-being in blended families

This scoping review explores relational factors that support positive outcomes for children in blended families – families formed when one or both partners bring children from previous relationships into a new relationship. Much of the existing literature on blended families has taken a deficit-based approach, focusing on the challenges associated with divorce or separation. In contrast, this review, guided by the HOPE framework, considers how positive childhood experiences (PCEs) – specifically, healthy relationships – foster resilience and well-being in blended families.
